Birth Center of Baton Rouge is the closest free-standing birth center to the Northshore. Staffed with CNM's and a CPM,

the midwives of Birth Center of Baton Rouge had the following statistics for 2015:

3 cesareans out of 64 patients for a rate of 4.68%
Of the four patients who sought a VBAC there, all were successful for a VBAC success rate of 100%.

Tisha Seghers, CNM

Tisha Seghers, APRN-CNM, is a Certified Nurse-Midwife at Touro Infirmary. Tisha worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 14 years before becoming a nurse-midwife. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University in December, 2000. She graduated from Frontier Nursing University (Hyden, Kentucky) in September, 2014 with a Master of Science degree in nursing with a concentrating in midwifery. Tisha is a New Orleans native, married to her high-school sweetheart and mother to two children. She has a passion for empowering women to take charge of their healthcare. As a midwife she cares for women throughout the lifespan. She has a special interest in adolescent obstetrics and gynecology, waterbirth, and birth planning.

VBAC success rate: 60%

Due to hospital and group practice policy, Tisha is currently not accepting VBAC clients

Heather Razmus, CNM

Heather is a New Orleans native who recently returned to the area and joined Crescent City Physicians as a Certified Nurse-Midwife. She started her nursing education at Southeastern Louisiana University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Carey College New Orleans campus in 1997. Heather’s passion for birth was born in nursing school after witnessing her first birth on her birthday. Heather worked at Lakeside Hospital in Labor and Delivery until 2000 when she moved to Minneapolis to pursue a Midwifery education. She received a Master of Science with Midwifery focus from the University of Minnesota in 2003. Upon graduation, she and her husband moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan were she practiced with a physician owned group for 10 years. In 2013 she joined a Federally Qualified Health Center in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was always Heather’s goal to return home and bring more birth options to the women of New Orleans and she is thrilled to finally be achieving that dream. Heather’s interests include waterbirth and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Heather lives with her husband and three sons, when not working she enjoys being a boy mom and can usually be found at a football game or scouting event.
